Australian Pig Farmers
Free Range Pastured Pork

All About Pigs, Where to Buy Free Range, Training & Producer Information
We offer both an introductory level workshop for anyone interested in pigs or contemplating free range production,  and a advanced pig handling course.  You can combine the two to achieve the 'Free Range Pig Management and Handling' Certificate issued by Humane Farm Management.  Lee McCosker will spend the day with you discussing anything you need to know about keeping pigs outdoors.

There will be a full day of discussion and pig handling demonstrations along with a farm tour to discuss issues such as fencing, water, housing, feeding, farrowing, land management and much more.

We will also cover legal requirements for owning and selling pigs and marketing options should you decide free range pig farming is for you.

The Advanced Pig handling course is a very hands on day that will cover all aspects of moving and handling pigs, inspecting and assessing health and well-being, carrying out vaccinations, health treatments and elective husbandry procedures. You must have completed the introductory workshop to be eligible to enroll in this course.

Lunch will be provided and, when possible,  will feature, pasture raised free range pork.  Morning and afternoon tea also included. (let us know of any special dietary requirements well before the event)

Both workshops, but in particular the Advance Course, are Competency Based Training and focus on what the participant is expected to be able to do on their farm as opposed to just having theoretical knowledge.

A workshop notebook will be provided so you wont forget any of the important issues addressed on the day.

Cost:  $295 for one day courses or $550 for both per person (includes lunch)  A discount applies for couples from the same family or organization. The Kempsey Workshops are offered at a discount price.
