Welcome Australian Pig Farmers!

The Free Range Pork Farmers Association has identified a need for support for all small scale pork producers, not just free range farmers.  Australia's smallholders make up around 70% of the total pig producers in this country.  The majority of these australian pig farmers raise their pigs a little differently to the commercial industry and sometimes help can be hard to find.  Raising a small herd of pigs outdoors can also present unique challenges. Our aim is to make information easily accessible, understandable and targeted to owners of small pig herds.  We provide a forum for exchange of ideas and experiences and a place where you can ask for guidance and help from other aussie pig farmers.

We are planning workshops around Australia for the New Year.  These events will include information about farm certification, free range standard, market requirements, selling pigs and general information on getting started in free range farming.  The workshop is free but registration of interest is essential to ensure a day moves into the planning stages in your region.  All are welcome but if you are not already a member you will need to sign up to our free membership to be able to register.
FreeRangePorkFarmersLogo-round.jpgThe Free Range Pork Farmers Association offers a certification program for free range pig producers.  Our Quality Assurance program covers food safety requirements for pigs being sold to abattoirs.

The Association lobbies for recognition of our industry and is currently working on truth in labelling by petitioning for a nationally recognized definition of the term free range to protect the future of your farming enterprise.
